What it looks like to be a part of a
Parent Cooperative Preschool
How the Cooperative Model helps Start Here! Preschool Function
At our parent-cooperative preschool, families are more than just participants—they’re partners.
By sharing in the daily operations, decision-making, and classroom involvement, parents help create a nurturing, responsive environment where children thrive.
This cooperative model not only keeps tuition affordable and our community close-knit, but it also enriches the learning experience through deep family engagement, mutual support, and a shared investment in every child’s success.
Parent Responsibilities
Classroom Volunteering
As part of our cooperative model, each family plays an active role in the life of the classroom. Parents volunteer regularly in the classroom on a rotating schedule — supporting teachers, engaging with students, and becoming part of the daily magic of play-based learning.
Weekend Cleaning
In addition, every family participates in one weekend cleaning day per year to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our children.
These shared responsibilities not only keep our school running smoothly, but also build a strong sense of community and connection among families.
Parent Board
Join the Board: Collaborate and Lead
Our cooperative thrives on shared leadership. By joining the Board, parents have the opportunity to collaborate closely with fellow members and our Lead Teacher/Program Director to help guide the direction of the school.
Board members play a vital role in shaping policies, supporting staff, and ensuring the long-term health and vision of our community. It’s a meaningful way to contribute, grow your leadership skills, and make a lasting impact.
